Deputy
Sheriff Jeff Treu was recognized for an award as a law enforcement
officer at the Nebraska Partner in Preventions luncheon
meeting on January 3rd. This award represents the dedication
to and strides made towards Nebraska Partner in Preventions
goal of reducing youth substance abuse and their philosophy
that local people solve local problems best. Deputy
Treu was nominated for this award by Corey Fisher, Elgin Public
Principal; Nicole Sedlacek, KBRX Radio; and Concey Ramold, R.N.
with North Central District Health Department.
Deputy
Treu has given numerous presentations to parents and other community
groups in the community of Elgin. Recently, he has presented
the Think B4U Wink video that was open to the entire community
of Elgin. He has also given this presentation to other communities
in the surrounding area. Deputy Treu takes this issue very seriously.
He is a great advocate for kids and has a true passion for reducing
alcohol and drug related problems. I believe that our youth
in the community of Elgin are fortunate to have Deputy Treu
working for them. -----------------------Corey Fisher,
Elgin Public Principal
Deputy
Treus passion for his job isnt just limited to his
county lines. Hes always very willing to visit neighboring
counties and their communities to talk about the prevention
of underage drinking on his own time. A recent example of that
was in October of this year when he was a recent guest of mine
at an ONeill Rotary Club meeting. He presented the Think
B4U Wink program to the room of adults. The adults were all
very impressed and left the room better equipped on how to prevent
underage drinking.

Sedlacek, KBRX Radio
Deputy
Treu has been a tremendous asset to both coalitions, A.S.A.P.
ONeill and E & E Endeavors for Prevention.
He has given willingly and freely of both his working and personal
time to present the Think B4U Wink program to different organizations.
The Think B4U Wink program provides education and insight to
adults about the dangers of giving alcohol to underage youth.
The impact of the number of youths deaths related to drinking
in Antelope County in recent years has strengthened his personal
drive to see this program succeed so one more youth doesnt
become a statistic.--------------------Concey Ramold,
RN with North Central District Health Department
